Pengalaman saya dengan ahli-ahli Karismatik

Terlalu mempercayai penampakkan peribadi -Ada seorang yang mengatakan Tuhan telah memberikan dia peluang melihat neraka. Tetapi saya meragui kata-katanya sebab ekspresi muka orang ini sangat tenang apabila menceritakan hal ini kepada saya…jauh sekali berbeza dengan reaksi tiga kanak-kanak di Fatima yang telah melihat neraka…budak-budak yang masih berumur 7, 8 dan 9 tahun sanggup mengorbankan masa santai mereka untuk berdoa Rosari dan membuat kerja-kerja penebusan (penance and sacrifices) kerana sangat takut masuk ke neraka.

Roh Kudus di bawah kawalan umat? -Ada seorang mengatakan kurnia ‘bahasa roh’ akan hilang jika tidak DIPRAKTIKKAN selalu. Setahu saya…Roh Kudus adalah Tuhan kita (third person in the Holy Trinity). Dia yang akan membuat keputusan dan bukan kita membuat keputusan untuk-Nya. Tuhan Roh Kudus tidak boleh dipanggil pada bila-bila masa sahaja sebab Dia yang akan memilih waktu bila Dia akan datang pada kita. Kalau ‘bahasa roh’ boleh dipraktikkan, semua orang sepatutnya boleh berbahasa roh…Dalam perjanjian baru, semasa Hari Pentekosta, Roh Kudus yang melimpahi rasul-rasul Yesus menyebabkan bahasa ibunda yang digunakan oleh mereka difahami oleh orang-orang kafir dari pelbagai bangsa dan bahasa - Kisah Para Rasul 2: 1-10. Tujuan Tuhan memberikan Kurnia 'Bahasa Roh' adalah untuk memenangi jiwa orang kafir bukannya untuk orang yang sudah memeluk agama Kristian. Manifestasi ini sepatutnya telah berkurang pada hari ini kerana umat Kristian sudah ramai.

Bonda Maria dan Santo-Santa diketepikan (Menjadi protestan secara tidak disedari) -Ada seorang sangat mempercayai ‘roh kudus’ (saya gunakan huruf kecil kerana tidak pasti roh apa sebenarnya) sehingga dia mengajari Katolik lain jangan membuang masa berdoa kepada Bonda Maria dan Santo-santa…dia juga melarang ahli keluarganya berdoa kepada Bonda Maria dan santo-santa. Cara pemikirannya adalah sama dengan umat protestan. Dia merupakan ahli yang sangat aktif dalam ' Couple for Christ' satu cabang dari gerakan ini.

Mendapat kurnia penyembuhan/ pengusiran? -Ada seorang yang mengatakan semasa dia berusaha menyembuhkan seorang yang telah dirasuk setan, dapat berbahasa cina dengan tiba-tiba tetapi tidak memahami kata-katanya sendiri (kalau tidak silap saya, dia mengatakan dia berhadapan dengan setan tapikong)…adakah tanda ini saja cukup membuktikan sipenyembuh itu dilimpahi roh kudus? Adakah sembarangan saja umat boleh membuat pengusiran setan? Setahu saya ianya memerlukan kebenaran uskup…

Kurang pengetahuan tentang sakramen, doktrin dan dogma gereja -Ada seorang yang aktif dalam gerakan ini, tidak pernah ketinggalan 'prayer meeting' yang selalunya diikuti dengan sesi 'pray over', diadakan setiap minggu dan selalu terlibat dalam pengurusan hal-hal seminar tetapi memberitahu saya dia sudah lama tidak pergi ke misa hari minggu…bercakap dengan santai seolah-olah ianya bukan dosa…

My Experience with some Charismatic members

Belief in personal apparition

One Mr. X shared with me how he was so blessed by God. According to him, God in His mercy had shown hell to him. But I am doubtful of the truth of his sharing. Besides showing a calm expression, he also seemed to be proud about the whole experience. It was a total opposite of how the three children of Fatima, aged 7, 8 and 9 reacted when they were shown hell by the Blessed Virgin Mary. They were terrified that if the Virgin Mary did not promise heaven to them, they would have died of fear. These young children were even willing to sacrifice their play time by praying Rosary, fasting and doing penances.

The Holy Spirit under the control of the faithful?

One Miss X said to me that if the ‘tongue language’ was not practiced regularly, one might lose ‘the gift’…I was baffled by this remark. The Holy Ghost is our God, the third person of the Holy Trinity. Since He is our God, it is He who will sanctify and guide us (come to us) and not the other way round. We, mere mortal made of dust, should not be instructing Our God! If the ‘tongue language’, like a radio, can be easily switched on and off, then it is NOT from heaven… After the Holy Ghost descended upon the apostles, they began to speak in diverse tongues and the unbelievers understood them - Acts of Apostles 2:1-10. The gift of tongue is meant for the unbelievers and not for the believers. This manifestation should have receded since today there are already many Christians.

The Blessed Virgin Mary and the Saints not important anymore? (Catholic becoming protestant)

A Mdm X only believes and preaches the ‘holy spirit’ (notice the small letter – not sure what spirit she is talking about). She is telling Catholics that it is a waste of time praying to the Virgin Mary and the saints. She exhorts her family members to stop praying and having devotion to Mary and the saints. She is a supporter of the ecumenism of Vatican-II, an erroneous doctrine which has resulted in the birth of a new generation - Catholic protestant. She is an active member of ‘Couple for Christ’, a branch movement of the charismatic group.

The gift of healing and exorcism

A Mr. X said that he had once, while trying to exorcise a possessed man, was suddenly gifted with exorcism in Chinese language (the devil according to him is from the Buddhist religion). Is this gift from God? Can exorcism be carried out without permission from the bishop?

Lack of Catholic knowledge - about sacraments, doctrine and dogma

Another Mdm never misses her weekly prayer meeting. This will be followed by a ‘pray-over’ session. She has been in charge of many charismatic seminars. One day, she simply said to me, “I have not gone to Sunday mass for a long time”…isn’t it a mortal sin to not keep holy the Sabbath day?
